CAPES has published the first edition of the Move La América Program, which offers 800 scholarships for sandwich doctorate and master’s students from Latin America and the Caribbean to complement their studies at Brazilian institutions. The program aims to strengthen the internationalization ties of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

Applications opened on July 22 (Monday), and candidates must submit their applications through the CAPES Registration System (Sicapes) by August 8 (Wednesday). The final selection results will be announced starting November 26. The program is set to begin in the first semester of 2025. Here is the schedule:

The scholarship covers a monthly stipend, travel allowance, installation allowance, and health insurance allowance. The benefits (paid in Brazil in reais) are linked to the actual duration of the stay abroad for completing the approved academic activities. The duration of the scholarships is as follows:
I) Sandwich Doctorate: between 2 (two) and 12 (twelve) months
II) Sandwich Master’s: between 2 (two) and 6 (six) months
